Hamish Robertson designed the Ariston RD-11 in 1971. Castle Precision Engineering Ltd machined many of the parts.
The Ariston RD-11S was one of the most famous and popular turntables during the 1970s. The designer of the Ariston RD-11 left that company and went on to create the nearly identical Linn Sondek SP-12 in 1973.
